Mechanical filter media retain suspended solids and dirt particles. This happens at different stages:

At the beginning, before the water goes through the further purification process, the pre-filter media EHEIM MECH and EHEIM MECHpro prove their worth.

EHEIM FIX is suitable as a separating layer between the mechanical and biological filter media.

And for fine filtration at the end, before the water re-enters the aquarium, EHEIM SYNTH filter floss is ideal.

Pre-filter mass made of ceramic hollow bodies for coarse dirt particles

Immediately after entering the filter circuit, the water is swirled by the ceramic hollow bodies. This causes coarse dirt particles to settle. The pre-filtered water treated in this way continues on its way through the other filter layers. EHEIM MECH is easy to clean and can be used several times.
