For longer transports, the addition of oxygen tablets and activated charcoal to bind toxins is recommended.
  
  
• Temperature control: The temperature of the water in the bags must match the temperature in the aquarium or pond from which the fish originate. Sudden temperature fluctuations can be dangerous for the fish.
  
  
• Bag size: The size of the fish bags should be adapted to the type and size of the fish to be transported.

The well-known rubber bands are often used to seal transport bags. The sealed fish transport bags should then be transported away from light, as fish in particular calm down in the dark. The fish transport bags or plant transport bags should also be protected from heat and cold. Depending on the type of transport, insulated bags/cooling bags or insulated polystyrene boxes with lids are suitable for this purpose. If aquarium animals or plants are transported for long periods in cold outside temperatures, the use of so-called heat packs is recommended, which are packed in the transport container and provide continuous heat for several hours. It is best to stick the heat packs to the additional protective transport container using heat-resistant adhesive tape and at a safe distance from the transport bag. It may even be advisable to additionally wrap the transport bags in a protective insulating film.
