Tetra Malawi Flakes are particularly suitable as a staple food for all herbivorous cichlids, such as algae-eaters from the Mbuna group.
The high-quality mixture of the three types of algae spirulina (20 %), nori (17 %) and chlorella (3 %) is specially tailored to the needs of these fish. There are several reasons for this: For example, mbuna cichlids in the wild continuously graze on algae-covered stones and rocks. It is vital for this fish species to eat incessantly in order to cover their daily energy requirements with the relatively nutrient-poor algae.
In an aquarium, the feeding behavior of the animals does not change. This means that the fish greedily eat everything that is offered to them. However, with very energy-rich food, this behavior quickly leads to obesity. It is therefore all the more important that a food for mbuna cichlids is rich in all the important nutrients and vitamins, but does not lead to obesity.
Tetra Malawi Flakes meet precisely these criteria: The protein-rich algae variety Spirulina platensis supports the cichlids' immune system, the algae Chlorella is rich in essential fatty acids and the Nori algae provides the fish with additional important fiber and minerals. The food is therefore rich in vegetable proteins and important nutrients, which promotes both the digestion and vitality of the cichlids. The protein-rich algae spirulina is supplemented by two other types of algae.
All in all, Tetra Malawi Flakes are therefore particularly suitable as a staple food for all herbivorous cichlids of the Mbuna group, but the food is also ideal for all other cichlids.
