Juwel Phorax XL phosphate remover

Juwel Phorax is a highly efficient filter medium for breaking down phosphates in your aquarium. It effectively reduces algae growth and can contribute significantly to improved plant growth.

Phosphates regularly enter the aquarium through fish food and are hardly broken down naturally. However, plants only require very small amounts of phosphate for their natural growth (fresh water: 0.05 mg/l, seawater 0.01 mg/l). Too much phosphate can, under certain circumstances, trigger a plague of algae.

Phorax consists of an aluminum mineral that binds dissolved phosphate by forming a water-insoluble aluminum phosphate and thus removes it from the water. This makes JUWEL Phorax highly effective and binds up to 12 mg of phosphate per gram of Phorax.
