Fish show their colors with almost any food, but the color expression can be intensified by certain types of food, as it happens in humans through the diet of carrots. How intense the colors of fish can be is shown by courtship displays or fighting males. However, JBL does not use cheap carotene, but natural astaxanthin (also a carotene), which is obtained from krill shrimps and spirulina algae. Although this is considerably more expensive, it is a natural method of promoting the beautiful colors of the fish.
The composition of JBL PRONOVO COLOR is such that it can also be used as a staple food like JBL PRONOVO BEL.
The biological species concept for ornamental fish:
In addition to a staple food such as JBL PRONOVO BEL or JBL PRONOVO COLOR for community aquariums, the JBL PRONOVO species concept is available for your fish. Within the species concept you can add food specifically for fish species or choose it instead of the main food. It is not a problem if, for example, your fighting fish also eats the food for your barbs and vice versa. It is only important that you offer the right food for each group of fish. Variety is always a good thing! Would you like to feed exactly the right food for your neon or armored catfish, for example? No problem: In the JBL species concept you will find a granulate for neon (and other small tetras) that is suitable for the mouth and whose composition is precisely adapted to the needs of the fish, including insects, the JBL PRONOVO NEON. In their natural habitats in South America, neons live in very nutrient-poor blackwater biotopes and are dependent on small, mouth-friendly plankton. Armored catfish, on the other hand, live on the bottom and have a different food spectrum. JBL PRONOVO CORYDORAS (Corydoras = scientific name of the armored catfish species) therefore contains the appropriate raw materials, such as shrimps and spirulina.
