Reverse osmosis systems produce water that is ideal for saltwater and freshwater aquariums.

Many water-related problems can often only be solved by using reverse osmosis water. Reverse osmosis systems work on the principle of physical filtration.

Unlike ion exchangers, for example, which exchange hardness ions (e.g. calcium) for other, non-hardness ions (e.g. sodium), a reverse osmosis system physically removes pollutants (e.g. silicate, nitrate) and hardness ions from the water.

In the reverse osmosis system, the water passes through a semi-permeable membrane under the same pressure (2–6 bar) as that found in standard household water pipes.

The substances dissolved in the water (harmful substances, salts or hardeners) cannot pass through the small lattice structure of the membrane and remain in the residual water. This residual water is drained off as concentrate and can be used without hesitation as cleaning, irrigation or process water.

Dupla reverse osmosis units have a maximum retention rate of 95-98% of all harmful substances found in tap water.

Tip: By connecting a Dupla ultra-pure water filter (optional accessory) downstream, even the slightest traces of silicates and nitrates can be completely removed, leaving no residue.
