What is PhosMAX Basic?

PhosMAX Basic is a unique filter medium for chemical filtration of water in freshwater aquariums and terrarium tanks in the form of semolina with an exceptionally high absorption capacity. PhosMAX Basic is used for chemical absorption of phosphates dissolved in water, which are one of the main causes of the formation of troublesome algae in aquarium tanks.

How does PhosMAX Basic work?

The unique chemical compounds used in PhosMAX Basic are characterized by exceptionally good sorption properties. By absorbing the phosphate ions dissolved in the water, algae formation is effectively prevented.

Where and when is PhosMAX Basic used?

PhosMAX Basic is ideally suited as a filter bed in external filters, overflow filters, internal filters with chambers for loose filter media (e.g. TURBOFILTERS) as well as in sump filters and stack filters. It is especially recommended for use in tanks with a high population of fish fed on a meaty diet (e.g. large cichlids, catfish) and which are not stocked with plants, which act as natural phosphate absorbers. By using PhosMAX Basic, the aquarium water needs to be changed less frequently and algae formation in the tank is effectively prevented.

How is PhosMAX Basic used?

PhosMAX Basic is ready to use immediately and does not require rinsing or other additional measures. The contents of the package are added to the filter basket or filter chamber. For optimal application results, it is recommended to place the PhosMAX Basic filter cartridge behind the filter cartridges for mechanical and biological filtration.

How long does PhosMAX Basic work?

The way the PhosMAX Basic filter media works (sorption) causes the bed to fill and consume gradually. To maintain optimal filtration characteristics, it is recommended that the insert be replaced at least every 4 weeks. One pack is sufficient to filter the water in a 200 liter aquarium for approximately 30 days.
